Description
Santa Teresa Health Center provides help and treatment for alcoholism and drug addiction. The case from the beginning stresses the pro-bono work of the consultant and the social goal of the company, together with the devotion of the firm to employ all resources in caring for patients. This context is a frequent one in hybrid organizations: the scarcity of money and management resources.
The case offers an inspired real-world setting to discuss the challenges facing hybrid organizations as they seek to balance the passion, values, and mission of a social, non-for-profit organization with the efficiency, innovation, and resources of a traditional for-profit organization. Furthermore, the case provides food for thought about ways to improve the cost allocation to patients and in this way, provide relevant information for decision-making and improvements to the management of the clinic.
