As someone who has been teaching Math for Social Sciences for almost three decades, I have often found it challenging to encourage students to take an active role in their learning. However, linear programming, a mathematical optimization technique widely used in many disciplines for various applications, is one of the few exceptions. This case will help students to understand this fascinating technique by applying linear programming to the strategic planning of an electoral campaign.
