IE University Publishing Celebrates Success at the 2024 Learning Technologies Awards

Two innovative simulators by IE University Publishing were recognized at the 2024 Learning Technologies Awards.

On November 13, the Learning Technologies Awards 2024 took place in London, where IE University Publishing proudly participated with two of its multimedia educational resources.

Organized by Learning Technologies, these awards celebrate global excellence in education, encompassing over 20 categories and including big companies and educational institutions worldwide that showcase innovative learning and development (L&D) initiatives.

Facing New Challenges in Space & Cyber Affairs: SpaceGov - Bronze in the "Best Technology-Based Learning Game" Category

This multiplayer simulator, developed by IE University professor Andrew Bertoli, allows students to explore how nations devise strategies and make decisions on global governance. Through this interactive tool, students confront collective action issues in space and cyber domains, gaining practical experience in managing complex challenges. Key topics include strategy, negotiation, decision-making, and sustainability. The simulator’s objective is to illustrate the intricacies of human interactions, providing students with an opportunity to experience both cooperation and competition in social processes.

The Ethical Crossroads of Emerging Technologies - Finalist in the "Best Use of Simulations or Virtual Environments for Learning" Category

Created by IE University professor Theodore Lechterman, this virtual reality simulator presents students with two ethical dilemmas related to the implementation of artificial intelligence: one in the context of legal proceedings and the other in military conflict. Students immerse themselves in an emotionally charged experience, taking on active roles in making decisions with profound ethical and moral implications. These choices, along with their consequences, are then analyzed in classroom discussions, fostering critical reflection and encouraging idea exchange among students.

We extend our congratulations and gratitude to the entire team involved in these projects, especially professors Bertoli and Lechterman, whose dedication has been crucial to this achievement.

These recognitions add to IE University Publishing’s growing list of awards, underscoring the quality and usability of its materials beyond academia and highlighting their effectiveness in professional training and HR contexts. All of these and other educational resources are available in the online catalog of IE University Publishing.
