This year, London hosted the conference and award ceremony of the QS Reimagine Education Awards, where The Ethical Crossroad of Emerging Technologies was shortlisted in the Nurturing Values and Ethics category.

QS is one of the most prominent educational institutions in the world, renowned for its highly regarded global rankings. The QS Reimagine Education Awards are now in their 11th edition, celebrating pioneering pedagogical approaches that enhance learning outcomes and employability.

The Ethical Crossroad of Emerging Technologies is a virtual reality educational resource developed by Professor Theodore Lechterman in collaboration with the IE University Publishing team. This innovative material harnesses the power of 360-degree video to deliver an immersive learning experience that fosters empathy in students when addressing complex issues.

Through two interactive scenarios, students delve into the ethical dilemmas posed by artificial intelligence and its applications. This experience not only helps students identify trade-offs between interests and ethical values but also encourages them to analyze, reflect on, and defend their perspectives on these challenging situations. By emotionally connecting with these dilemmas, the material enables deep and meaningful learning.

Another IE University project was also recognized at this year’s QS Reimagine Education Awards. The Online Stackable Master in Digital Transformation (MDT) was shortlisted in the E-Learning category.

The MDT is a flexible online program that combines modular courses focused on skills acquisition, designed to meet the specific needs of today’s professionals. This project was also recently awarded Gold at the prestigious Brandon Hall Awards, further validating the exceptional quality and continuous innovation of IE University’s online methodology.
