Description

This multimedia case study focuses on Moda re-, a non-profit social enterprise founded in 2020 in Spain and spearheaded by Cáritas. Moda re- is dedicated to the collection, reuse, recycling, donation, and sale of used clothing as a means to integrate vulnerable individuals into the labor market. By examining the case of Moda re-, students will explore key principles of the circular economy as well as what it means to promote sustainability, particularly in the fashion industry. Students will evaluate the factors that influence a social enterprise’s degree of disruption by examining Moda re-’s impact on the fashion ecosystem. Students will also be tasked with creating solutions that empower a social enterprise to transform the system in which it operates by analyzing Moda re-’s efforts to transform the fashion ecosystem from a linear system to a circular one. Finally, students will understand the systems thinking approach in the context of social entrepreneurship and apply that approach to Moda re-.
