Description

This multimedia is an innovative and impactful project featuring an immersive VR experience for the students, leading to a discussion on climate change through reactive and proactive solutions to natural disasters. The case will have three parts:

1. The VR experience that immerses the student in the life of someone experiencing a hurricane. The experience will combine tension, emotional distress, and environmental information with a powerful message about the potential individual suffering from society’s actions.

2. A roleplaying exercise in a multimedia format that turns the student into a powerful stakeholder, such as a policymaker, environmentalist, and scientist. Each role will hold relevant information and learning objectives through activities, readings, videos, and visual materials that prompt the student to make decisions to address the climate change problem introduced by the VR experience. They will also be provided with tools to create a solution draft and prepare them for a class discussion.

3. A class discussion led in a synchronous or asynchronous manner. This element aims to promote debate about addressing climate change, by focusing on a common resource that must be spent by the end of a session.
