Este caso expone la problemática que la compañía Al-Kadi Truck & Trailer Parts Division está atravesando relacionada con temas operativos y de manejo de stocks. Simultáneamente también el sector del automóvil está cambiando en Arabia Saudita lugar donde se desarrolla el caso. El alumno debe re planificar la estrategia logística decantándose entre seguir una estrategia centralizada o descentralizada.
Para plantear la nueva estrategia el caso presenta información sobre la compañía su estrategia actual el sector el país (Arabia Saudita) y el mercado. Se muestran vídeos entrevistas a uno de los directivos animaciones del modelo de distribución de las piezas e información gráfica sobre mapas del país. Con toda esa información el alumno deberá tomar decisiones acerca de la nueva estrategia logística y de operaciones.
El caso se puede utilizar como parte de un curso de Gestión de Operaciones o de Gestión de la Cadena de Suministro para tratar temas relacionados con el diseño de redes y sistemas de inventario. Se puede utilizar en programas de masters como MBA, Master In Management, Master in Operations Management, etc. o con los estudiantes universitarios que tengan conocimientos previos sobre temas de logística y de la cadena de suministro, así como en programas de educación ejecutiva.

Interviews from key stakeholders provide important background information. On top of the previous points the case provides the student with a broad view of logistics network structuring decisions including their relation with product strategy and information systems design. This case realistically simulates the management of a real auto parts distribution company in Saudi Arabia. The student has to make decisions about the location of the stocks as well as their distribution in a new and complex environment. This case is ideal to be used in supply chain and logistics classes. It could be assigned to be prepared before the class and then discussed interactively in class asking for the justification of the different policies chosen and helping in the debate of topics such as the trade-off between inventory and transport multi-echelon systems the pendulum effect and classification policies.
