The case describes the history of Clickair, from its creation in 2006 until its merger with Vueling in 2009. In 2005, the Board of Directors of Iberia decided to enter the low cost segment through the creation of an independent airline, where Iberia would have a shareholding. In 2006, Clickair began its operations with strong social, political, union and competitive reactions. The case also describes the situation of its direct competitor Vueling. This case can be used in a Strategic Management course for a session on strategic renovation.
