    This is an interactive tutorial which aims to clarify the key concepts of depreciation and take an in-depth look at the effects that different depreciation methods have on companies. Through the use of a calculator students can calculate the depreciation schedule visualizing the results graphically and then compare how changes in the useful life and residual value affect depreciation expense.

    This interactive tutorial consists of five sections:&nbsp

    - A general depreciation theory test
    - A methods test looking at how different depreciation techniques can affect a company&rsquos financial statements
    - A flexible depreciation calculator accompanied by two reflection exercises
    - A detailed case analysis focusing on net income effects and cash flow

    Beginning with the details of an unnamed country this interactive exercise lets students combine various economic policies to analyze their future impact (in the following two years) on the main macroeconomic indicators. The results and feedback given to students are expressed numerically and graphically.

    Students also have access to the results of the combination of policies used throughout the exercise so that they can be compared. Said results can be printed for subsequent discussion.

  3. Sky wars: The Airbus-Boeing controversy EC1-104-I

    This case is about the “war” between Boeing Co. and Airbus S.A.S., the most important aircraft manufacturers in the global market. They are accusing one another of receiving illegal financial support and have lodged a complaint with the WTO. 

    Students are given background information about each company, the aerospace industry in general and the dispute itself. They are also provided with a summary of the facts of the case where each company’s complaint is broken down. Lastly, they are given a text explaining the GATT/WTO prohibition on subsidies. Using all of this information, students must put themselves in the shoes of the WTO tribunal and make a decision about the case.

    Mathlouthi had been for a long time very unsatisfied by the American policy in the Middle East. This disappointment soon turned into a boycott on products perceived by consumers as a symbol of American hegemony. With the possibility of war in Iraq, the boycott intensified and became a global phenomenon during the year 2002. The affected companies were, for example, Burger King, McDonald's, Starbucks, Pepsi and Coke.

    Trying to involve his family in this campaign, Mathlouthi encouraged his son, consumer of Coca-Cola, to stop drinking it: "Agree-said the child, but you have to offer me another alternative drink". Solving this puzzle became a personal challenge to Mathlouthi and began to look for a solution.

Or simply just let some time go by for the problem to be forgotten.
